چکیده

Landslides are dangerous events that threaten both human life and property. This research presents a case study of Kaghan valley catchment, which is an area frequent landslide activity. We aim to present comparison between the bivariate Landslide Numerical Risk Factor (LNRF), Statistical Index (SI) Information Value (InfV) statistical models evaluate susceptibility. A total 1556 landslides were identified using earlier reports, field surveys, GOOGLE Earth imagery. The abundance primarily controlled by acute deformation caused major thrust fault system proximity Hazara Kashmir Syntaxis (HKS). inventory was randomly partitioned into two datasets. 70% (1106) used as training phase models, whereas 30% (450) validation three models. spatial database 11 conditioning factors produced consisting slope, aspect, elevation, lithology, land use, Topographic Wetness (TWI), rainfall, Stream Power (SPI), distance faults, rivers streams. All susceptibility assessment parameters obtained from different sources maps prepared on GIS software. Performance validated through Receiver operator Characteristics (ROC) success prediction rate curves. Results show under ROC curve (AUC) for InfV, LNRF SI 70.95, 83.99 67.56 curves 70.75, 67.85 curves, respectively. having highest AUC value proved be superior generating regional scale maps.

Comparing Bivariate and Multivariate Methods in Landslide Sustainability Mapping: A Case Study of Chelchay Watershed

1- INTRODUCTION In the last decades, due to human interventions and the effect of natural factors, the occurrence of landslide increased especially in the north of Iran, where the amount of rainfall is suitable for the landslide occurrence. In order to manage and mitigate the damages caused by landslide, the potential landslide-prone areas should be identified. In landslide susceptibili...

Application of Bivariate and Multivariate Statistical Techniques in Landslide Susceptibility Modeling in Chittagong City Corporation, Bangladesh

The communities living on the dangerous hillslopes in Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) in Bangladesh recurrently experience landslide hazards during the monsoon season. The frequency and intensity of landslides are increasing over time because of heavy rainfall occurring over a few days. Furthermore, rapid urbanization through hill-cutting is another factor, which is believed to have a signifi...

Application of landsat imageries for mapping post-earthquake landslide, case study: 2012 Ahar-Varzegan earthquake, NW Iran

The 2012 Ahar-Varzegan earthquake and its aftershocks have not only caused huge damage with a severe loss of life and property but also induced many geo-hazards with the major type of collapse, creep, slip, debris flow, and fallings that are generally considered as landslide in this study which can cause continuous threats to the affected region. in this study, a semi-automated geo-hazard detec...

A GIS-based comparative study of the analytic hierarchy process, bivariate statistics and frequency ratio methods for landslide susceptibility mapping in part of the Tehran metropolis, Iran

The high hillsides of the Tehran metropolis are prone to landslides due to the climatic conditions and the geological, geomorphologicalcharacteristics of the region. Therefore, it is vitally important that a landslide susceptibility map of the region be prepared. For thispurpose, thematic layers including landslide inventory, lithology, slope, aspect, curvature, distance to stream, distance to ...
